About
Who writes this, and why it is called that.
The name
"Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world."
— Miyamoto Musashi
The line is from the Dokkōdō, a short list of precepts Musashi wrote near the end of his life. I am not a swordsman and this is not a philosophy site. I just think it is good advice, and a good name for a place to keep writing that tries to follow it: pay more attention to the world than to yourself.
About Darren
I'm Darren Saunders. I write software and run Paladyne, a small consultancy in Ashiya, Japan, that builds connected devices, web applications and the odd AI tool.
This site is for the writing that does not belong on my company blog: poems, short stories, and the occasional essay about technology or about nothing in particular. You can find my company blog at paladyne.co.jp.
If something here is interesting to you, get in touch. I am generally up for chat over a coffee or a beer if you're in the neighborhood*. The neighborhood is pretty much anywhere between Kyoto and Kobe.
